British PM Prepares to Ask Biden for Aid
The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, is planning to ask the outgoing US President Joe Biden to release $20 billion in aid for Ukraine. This will be done at the upcoming G20 Summit in Brazil.
Starmer wants to convince Biden to increase help for Ukraine before Donald Trump takes office in January. One way to do this could be by allowing Ukraine to attack deep within Russia’s territory using missiles supplied by the West.
At the same time, Starmer is pushing for a one-on-one meeting with Biden at the G20 Summit.
In November, Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron met and released a statement saying they would support Ukraine without wavering. They also said they would meet soon with Donald Tusk, the Polish Prime Minister, to discuss how to help Ukraine even if Trump reduces aid.
Trump has said he will end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours, but hasn’t explained how this would be done. It is expected that he would want Ukraine to give up territory to Russia.
US Senator Marco Rubio said the war in Ukraine had reached a stalemate and needed to end. He also voted against sending $61 billion of aid to Ukraine in April.
