**France Considers Deploying Nuclear-Armed Jets to Germany**
France is considering deploying jet fighters equipped with nuclear weapons to Germany, according to a report by the Telegraph. This move would send a strong message to Russia, the newspaper claims.
The proposal comes as the US shifts its focus away from Europe and Ukraine, signaling that the continent can no longer rely on Washington for security. A French official is quoted as saying that deploying fighter jets to Germany “should not be difficult” and would put pressure on the UK to make a similar move.
France has 300 nuclear weapons in its ‘force de dissuasion’ program, which includes both sea and air-based launch systems. The UK’s Trident nuclear deterrent consists of four Vanguard-class submarines, each capable of carrying up to 16 warheads.
**Ukraine and Russia Negotiate Peace**
Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia are negotiating a peace deal that would commit the US to keeping Ukraine “free, sovereign, and secure”. This comes as the U.S. has voted against a UN resolution condemning Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The draft deal would also require reconstruction costs 2.8 times higher than Ukraine’s nominal GDP for 2024, according to a new report. The EU has offered Ukraine its own deal on natural resources, which it describes as “mutually beneficial” and a “win-win partnership”.
