**Georgia’s Seat Empty in EU Enlargement Meeting**
A recent meeting on European Union (EU) enlargement was held at the invitation of Poland. However, Georgia’s seat was empty.
This was noted by Tengiz Pkhaladze, a professor and expert. He said that this is not just about Sergey Lavrov saying there will be a seat for Georgian representatives in the “3+3 format” meeting room.
**Russian Threats**
According to Pkhaladze, Russia has threatened Georgia. In fact, Russia has been making harsher threats. The Russian Foreign Ministry released statements today that mentioned Georgia.
One statement said that NATO should retract its 2008 promise of admitting Ukraine and Georgia into the alliance. This shows that Russia is not happy with Georgia’s progress.
**Worsening Relations**
Georgia’s relations with other countries are worsening. Its strategic partnership with the United States has been suspended, and relations with the European Union have also worsened.
Pkhaladze said that this means Georgia is more vulnerable than before. If Ukraine is broken up, Russia may take further action against Georgia.
**Russia’s Intentions**
The expert believes that Russia has practically threatened Georgia. He warned that in the future, these threats will be stated even more harshly.
For reference, Sergey Lavrov stated that there will always be a seat for Georgian representatives in the “3+3 format” meeting room. However, this did not stop Georgia’s seat from being empty at the recent EU enlargement meeting.
