**Georgia in Crisis: Opposition Leader Speaks Out**
For 10 days, the Georgian government has been at war with its own people and country. Teona Akubardia, a member of the opposition party “Gakharia-Georgia”, spoke out against this crisis at a joint press conference.
According to Akubardia, the attack on media outlets shows that telling the truth is considered a crime by the current government. She accused the government of using death squads and police to confront citizens and journalists who speak out against them.
**Targeted Attacks on Journalists**
Akubardia pointed out that this is not the first time there have been targeted attacks on those who speak out against the government. She mentioned a previous incident where journalist Guram Rogava was attacked by a policeman, but survived.
**Demand for Re-Elections and Sanctions**
The opposition leader demanded that the government release all illegally detained prisoners. She also called for sanctions against the current regime and its perpetrators. Akubardia emphasized that the main focus is on returning to democratic principles and achieving a European future for Georgia.
