Opposition Group Supports Civil Servants in Georgia
A member of the opposition group “Gakhara for Georgia“, Teona Akubardia, said that they will support civil servants who are standing up against a regime that is using force against citizens.
Civil servants have been refusing to follow orders from the current government. They want to protect the country‘s constitution. The opposition says they will work with Western partners to make sure these civil servants are not punished for doing their job.
The opposition group wants to make it clear that they support the people of Georgia, not the regime led by oligarch Ivanishvili. They say this regime has been using brutal methods against citizens and breaking into homes.
A US official had said that sanctions would be applied to the current regime. The opposition sees this as a sign that Western countries are standing with the people of Georgia. They want Georgia to become part of the European community, where democracy is respected.
The opposition says it will work with its Western partners to make sure the regime is punished for its actions, not the citizens who are suffering under their rule. This is an important task for them as they try to return Georgia to a more democratic state.
