The 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, Ukrainian Armed Forces, says that the evacuation of wounded soldiers was difficult, but that the withdrawal from Vuhledar allowed for minimal losses.
“The wounded were evacuated and the conditions were extremely difficult because the enemy was pressing from the flanks which greatly complicated logistic. Priority was given to evacuating our servicemen out of Vuhledar and from positions on the right and left. The wounded were evacuated. This is war. Losses are inevitable. We minimized losses by retreating and taking a different line. We would have suffered more losses if we had held the city for any longer,” Arsenii Prylipka, press officer of 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, named after the Black Zaporozhians said during a broadcast by “Radio Svoboda.”
