New Law Prohibits Face Masks at Demonstrations
The Georgian Parliament has passed a new law that makes it illegal to wear face masks or other coverings during demonstrations. The law also bans the use of pyrotechnics, laser beams, and other items with sharp radiation.
If people break this rule, they will be fined 2,000 GEL (approximately $700 USD).
The law was approved unanimously by the Parliament, with all 83 members voting in favor.
The Minister of Internal Affairs is now responsible for creating a list of people who can wear face masks during demonstrations. This includes people working in certain professions, like doctors or police officers. The minister will also decide what rules and conditions these people must follow to get special permits.
Additionally, the law makes it easier to buy and sell pyrotechnic products in Georgia. These products now require a special permit or license to import, export, produce, and sell them.
