**US Soldier Found Dead in Lithuania**
A fourth US soldier has been found dead, a week after going missing in Lithuania. The soldier was part of a team conducting military drills in an armoured vehicle near the city of Pabrade.
The bodies of three other soldiers were found with the vehicle in a peat bog on Monday. A huge search effort had been underway since they disappeared, involving hundreds of rescue workers from the US Army and Navy, as well as teams from Lithuania, Poland, and Estonia.
**Leaders Pay Tribute**
US military leaders have paid tribute to the four soldiers who died. “This past week has been devastating,” said Maj Gen Christopher Norrie. He added that their deaths made the world a darker place.
Lt Gen Charles Costanza described the incident as a tragic accident. He praised the recovery team for working together from different countries and continents.
**Investigation Underway**
The US Army is investigating what happened to the soldiers, but details are not yet clear. The team had been working near the border with Belarus.
The M88A2 Hercules vehicle involved in the incident is a large military truck used by the US Armed Forces to recover damaged vehicles from battlefields. It took two other Hercules and bulldozers to drag it out of the swamp on Monday.
**Operation Atlantic Resolve**
The soldiers were deployed to Lithuania as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, a response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Their identities have not been released.
