Natia Ioseliani explained that if a citizen’s electronic ID card or ID card has expired, they can still vote with a passport.
She told “InterpressNews” that if a citizen comes to the precincts with a passport the registrar would manually enter the data in the verification machine instead of passing the document by the reader.
According to Yoseliyan the chances of double verification are zero if both documents are valid. This is because the device emits an audible sound that can be heard by all the citizens in the vicinity.
“Any Georgian citizen, who is listed in the unified voter list according to their place of registration and who has a valid electronic ID card or passport of a Georgian citizen, has the right of participation in the elections.” Voters who present an expired identity certificate or a non-electronic certificate that is not electronic and belongs to a Georgian citizen will be denied the right to vote.
Did you know that voter identification is now done electronically. The voter’s electronic ID card is placed in the reader lane on the verification machine. In a few moments, the data of the voter appears on the screen. The registrar then matches the data on the screen with the voter, the card and the voter. The voter signs the receipt that is printed by the verification machine after marking. This confirms that they came to the voting station and voted. If a Georgian passport is presented by a voter at the polling station, the registrar manually enters the data in the verification machine.
There are two ways to verify your ID card: 1. The ID card can be passed through the reader bar.
