Opposition Members Meet with Georgian President
A group of opposition members from the Central Election Commission (CEC) met with Georgia‘s President Salome Zurabishvili at the Orbeliani Palace.
Before the meeting, the opposition members said they would share information about alleged election violations and unfair decisions made by the CEC in the run-up to the October 26 elections. They claim these actions “caused the falsification and hijacking of elections”.
Giorgi Sioridze, a representative from the “Strong Georgia” party, emphasized that President Zurabishvili’s role is crucial at this time. He believes it’s essential that she be informed about the alleged irregularities by administration representatives.
Sioridze said: “The opposition members of the CEC wanted to meet with the President because she is the only remaining institution in Georgia. We believe the October 26 election was rigged and held in violation of the principle of secrecy, making it illegitimate.”
