**Opposition in Georgia Asks OSCE to Postpone Visit**
A group of opposition forces in Georgia has written a letter to Pia Kauma, the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. They want her to postpone her visit.
The opposition groups say that the current government, known as Georgian Dream, does not intend to free political prisoners or hold new elections. They claim that this visit will only help Georgian Dream gain international recognition and make it harder for democratic forces and civil society.
The letter says that the October 2024 parliamentary elections were unfair. Many people were arrested and beaten for protesting peacefully. More than 50 people are still in jail, and hundreds more face administrative charges.
The opposition groups think that a visit now would not be helpful. They suggest postponing it until Georgian Dream agrees to hold new elections and free the prisoners.
**What do they want?**
The opposition groups want the OSCE President to postpone her visit until Georgian Dream commits to:
* Holding new, fair elections
* Releasing all political prisoners
They think this is the best way to ensure that the visit will be meaningful and help bring about positive change in Georgia.
