Construction of Fortifications in Zaporizhzhia Almost Complete
The construction of fortifications in Zaporizhzhia and surrounding areas is almost finished. This was announced by the regional Governor, Ivan Fedorov, on November 30.
Ukraine has been building strong defenses near the city of Zaporizhzhia to prepare for a possible Russian attack. The government wants to be ready if Russia decides to launch an offensive in the region.
Fedorov said that the new fortifications are more effective than previous versions. They can also protect against drone attacks, which have been used by Russia in the past.
There have been warnings from Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, about a possible Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that his country is tracking Russian troop movements in the region and has seen “existing threats”.
Another official, Vladyslav Voloshyn, warned on November 11 that Russia could launch an offensive on Zaporizhzhia Oblast at any moment. Russia has also been deploying soldiers to the front lines.
Russia is currently attacking Ukraine’s defenses in other parts of the country. They are trying to break through the defenses in Donetsk Oblast and reach the towns of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
