**US and UK Take Action Against Georgia**
The US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on two senior officials in Georgia. In response, the US State Department is implementing additional visa restrictions on more individuals from Georgia, including law enforcement and security officials.
**UK Sanctions Five Individuals**
The UK has also sanctioned five senior individuals responsible for violent attacks against journalists and peaceful protesters in Georgia. These individuals, including the Interior Minister and his deputy, face travel bans and asset freezes.
**Georgia’s Relationship with Europe**
The US Helsinki Commission warns that Georgia is moving away from Euro-Atlantic integration and towards autocratic states. The OSCE Permanent Council meeting in Vienna strongly condemned the actions of the Georgian Dream government, calling them “brutal and unjustified violence” against citizens exercising their rights to assembly and freedom of expression.
**EU Ambassador Speaks Out**
The EU Ambassador to Georgia expressed his gratitude and solidarity with journalists for their dedication and selflessness. He condemned the attacks on journalists as “disgusting” and pointed out that EU-Georgia relations are currently at their lowest point ever.
**Opposition Forces Unite**
Four opposition forces in Georgia have announced a joint address to OSCE/ODIHR, requesting the activation of the “Moscow Mechanism.” This mechanism involves sending a special mission to Georgia to examine all violations and rigged elections, ensuring the possibility of holding free and fair elections in the future.
**Clashes in Abkhazia**
In a separate incident, one of the de facto deputies of the occupied Abkhazian region was shot dead during an armed confrontation between two other de facto deputies. This occurred while a debate was taking place regarding a ban on crypto-mining in the occupied region.
