**Ukrainian Soldiers’ Casualties Estimated to be High**
Between 60,000 and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in the war with Russia. Another 400,000 are too injured to fight.
**Kyiv Keeps Details Secret**
The government of Ukraine has not given a full report on how many soldiers they have lost. President Volodymyr Zelensky only said that 31,000 fighters had died as of February.
**Higher Than Expected Losses**
According to The Economist, the number of Ukrainian and Russian soldiers killed is higher than during the Korean and Vietnam wars combined. One in 20 fighting-age men in Ukraine has been injured or killed because of the war.
**Difficult to Get Accurate Numbers**
It’s hard to know exactly how many people have died or been hurt on both sides. Russia and Ukraine keep their casualty numbers secret, making it difficult for anyone to get an accurate count.
**Russia’s Losses Estimated to be High Too**
The Russian government only reported 5,937 soldiers killed as of September last year. However, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said that over 735,000 Russians have lost their lives in the war so far.
