Estonia’s Parliament Supports Georgia
The Estonian Parliament has made a statement in support of the Georgian people. This was reported on their official website.
Estonia is concerned about how Russia has been affecting Georgia. The country feels that Russia is trying to divide Georgian society and interfere with its democratic elections. Estonia also believes that the results of the recent parliamentary election in Georgia are not fair, as they were held in a violent atmosphere.
The Estonian Parliament does not consider the government and president of Georgia to be legitimate. This is because they think the election was unfair. Instead, they support Salome Zurabishvili as the real president of Georgia. They also want her to help resolve the problems with the constitution in Georgia.
Estonia’s Parliament wants the European Union to take action. They call for sanctions against Georgian politicians and officials who have been involved in violence against peaceful protesters and have been persecuting people from civil society. The Estonian Parliament also thinks that the EU should limit its communication with the Georgian government until fair elections are held.
Many members of Estonia’s Parliament support this statement. However, some opposed it.
