The European Parliament backed the resolution on Georgia. 495 MEPs voted in favor of it, while 73 voted against it and 86 abstained.
According to the resolution the European Parliament is concerned by Georgia’s reversal in democratic processes and urges that the EU introduces personal targeted sanctions against BidzinaIvanishvili, and everyone else who is responsible for the critical state of the country.
The draft resolution addresses the release of former President of Georgia Mikheil Sakaashvili and the issues related visa-free travel into the EU which have been under review for some time.
