The European Parliament supported a resolution on Georgia. 495 MEPs voted in favor of the resolution on Georgia. 73 MEPs voted against, and 86 abstained.
According to the resolution the European Parliament regrets the democratic backsliding of Georgia and calls for the European Union (EU) to introduce personal sanctions towards BidzinaIvanishvili, and all those who undermine the democracy in Georgia.
The resolution also discusses the release of Mikheil Sakashvili and the issue of visa liberalization. The European Parliament also calls on the Georgian Government to introduce sanctions against Russia.
