**Parliament Approves New Law**
The Georgian Parliament has approved a new law called the “Foreign Agents Registration Act“. This law is similar to one in the United States.
The bill was proposed by the Georgian Dream faction. 86 lawmakers voted in favor of it. The Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said that this law is now in place and will be enforced by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
**What Does the Law Do?**
This new law defines what a foreign principal’s agent is and requires them to register with the government. It also regulates how these agents must behave and report their finances annually. The law includes penalties for those who do not comply.
The law will help monitor foreign influence in Georgia and ensure transparency. Failure to follow the rules can lead to criminal liability.
