**Germany Halts Funding for Georgia**
The German government has stopped funding projects worth 237 million euros in Georgia. These projects were planned to help the country‘s economy and environment.
The money was meant to develop a green hydrogen economy, modernize water infrastructure in Batumi, and expand energy networks. However, Germany’s Minister for Development, Svenia Schulze, said this decision is because the Georgian government has stopped working towards joining the European Union.
Georgia’s constitution says it wants to join the EU. But the government has not been following this path. Instead, it has used force against people who are protesting against its policies. This is why Germany is stopping funding for now.
Germany will review other ongoing projects and might keep some of them going if they help people in Georgia who want to join the EU.
