**Ukrainian Military Medics Film to Screen in Six European Cities**
A documentary about Ukrainian military medics who risk their lives on the front lines of Russia‘s full-scale war will be shown in six more European cities next March.
The film, “Can You Hear Me? The Invisible Battles of Ukrainian Military Medics,” was previously screened in nine European capitals and tells the story of a group of medics who took part in a mental health retreat in Sweden. The documentary follows their journey as they process the trauma of treating severe injuries and deaths since 2022.
The screenings will be followed by discussions with the film’s authors, journalists Francis Farrell and Olena Zashko. The tour is organized in partnership with the Repower charitable organization that provides mental health retreats for Ukrainian medics.
**A Personal Story**
The filmmakers traveled to the front lines in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, as well as to Sweden for a 10-day visit. They witnessed the emotional struggles of the medics who have seen endless conveyor belts of severe injuries and deaths since Russia’s invasion began.
One medic, Misha, was interviewed by the filmmakers. When told that people in Europe consider him a hero, he replied that heroes are those who fight on the front line. He said he just saves lives – an ordinary person doing extraordinary things.
**A Call to Action**
The film’s authors believe it is essential for supporters and decision-makers in Western Europe to watch the documentary and be reminded of who is defending freedom‘s frontiers and why they need more bravery to end this war sooner with a just and secure peace.
“The burden of leadership falls squarely on Europe’s shoulders,” said Sebastian Lindstrom, a senior project coordinator at Repower. “The question is clear: Do we have the courage and conviction to uphold our fundamental responsibility – to defend our shared values?”
**Screenings**
The documentary will be screened in Ukrainian with English subtitles (in France, with French subtitles). Graphic scenes are included and may be distressing to some viewers.
