The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency reports on the services provided by the state in the construction industry. The investigation began with a complaint from the Engineering Monitoring Group, which addressed flaws in tenders for infrastructure and how bidding methods discouraged competitiveness, especially in Gori and other municipalities.
The GCCA completed the investigation in 2023, and ordered municipal procurement authorities to adhere to fair-competition principles. This ensured that only companies that were not involved in ongoing legal battles regarding accreditation could participate.
The GCCA reports positive changes in the sector, including the removal of obstacles and increased competition.
