GEORGIA APPROVES GOVERNMENT PROGRAM FOR EURO-ATLANTIC INTEGRATION
The Georgian Parliament has approved a government program for the country‘s foreign policy. The program, titled “Only with Peace, Dignity, Prosperity to Europe,” outlines Georgia’s goals and priorities in its relations with other countries.
One of the main goals of the program is to continue Georgia’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration. This includes efforts to open accession talks with the European Union and to join NATO. The government also wants to reset relations with the United States, focusing on equality and fairness.
The program emphasizes the importance of peaceful territorial restoration, with a focus on regaining control over Georgian territories currently occupied by Russia. It vows to use all diplomatic and legal means to achieve this goal.
Georgia’s relations with its neighbors will also be a priority, with the government aiming for a balanced policy that protects territorial integrity, sovereignty, and good neighborliness. The country will continue to cooperate with Turkey and Azerbaijan on regional projects.
The program also highlights Georgia’s strategic partnership with China, emphasizing the importance of economic cooperation and trade. It aims to deepen relations between the two countries and obtain observer status in China-CEEC (Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries).
In terms of economy, the program mentions the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project, which is expected to be operational by 2029.
The government program comes against a backdrop of deteriorating relations with the EU. Georgia will continue its efforts to open accession talks with the EU and remove obstacles to integration.
