On October 18, Prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze named Tinatin Rukhadze the new Minister of Culture, Science, and Sports. PM Kobakhidze had said that the sports component would be separated as a separate ministry after the elections.
New Minister
Tea Tsulukiani resigned as Minister of Culture, ostensibly so that she could enter Parliament. She is one of the leading candidates on the GD ticket. Tea Tsulukiani was thanked by PM Irakli Kobakhidze for her work.
Tinatin Rukhadze is the new Minister of culture. She is a musician and has been the Director of Tbilisi’s National Youth Palace since 2016. Her first steps into the field began in late 1980s.
The new Minister of Culture expressed her gratitude to the Head of Government for his confidence. Tinatin Rukhadze, who has been working in this field for over 35 years […], said: “I will do my best to help those who represent our country abroad through culture and sports.”
New Ministry
In his briefing today, Kobakhidze said that the GD will introduce new legislation after the elections to separate the Ministry of Sport and the current Ministry.
Shalva Gogoladze was introduced by PM Kobakhidze as the First Deputy Culture Minister. He said that he will propose Gogoladze to be the Minister of Sport when a separate Ministry is created after the elections.
Shalva Gogoladze is a lawyer with many years’ experience in sports. She has been the Deputy Minister for Culture since 2017, in charge of sport affairs. He was previously Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs from 2015 to 2016.
