Parliamentary Commission Holds Hearing with Former Foreign Minister
A parliamentary commission in Georgia is investigating the country‘s past. Today, they questioned former Foreign Affairs Minister Grigol Vashadze.
Before answering questions, the commission gave Vashadze time to make a statement. The chair of the commission, Tea Tsulukiani, explained how the process would work. She also reminded Vashadze that he could face trouble if he didn’t answer truthfully or tried to lie.
Tsulukiani said: “Don‘t feel uncomfortable. We’re telling you this so everyone knows. If you don’t answer a question, that’s against the law. And if you give false answers on purpose, that’s also against the law.”
She also reminded Vashadze of his previous testimony in front of another commission. This was to make sure he gave consistent answers.
Vashadze is now answering questions from the commission about Georgia’s relations with Russia.
