Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin’s spokesperson, said at a Nov. 6 press conference that it was not possible to end Russia-Ukraine War overnight. He was referring to Donald Trump‘s statements.
Trump, the recently reelected U.S. President, claimed in his campaign that, if he returned to the White House, Russia’s war on Ukraine would be over within “24 hours.” He hinted again at his message when he delivered his victory speech. He told his cheering supporters: “I’m stopping the wars.”
“We have said repeatedly that the United States could help end the conflict of Ukraine. Peskov stated that this cannot be accomplished overnight. He said that he was not aware of any plans made by Russian President Vladimir Putin for him to congratulate the President-elect Trump.
According to a report in October, Trump’s plan to end “the war” within “24 hours” would benefit Russia because it would cede Ukrainian territory and create autonomous regions in eastern Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, also expressed skepticism regarding Trump’s ability “to end the war in 24 hours without giving our land to Putin.”
If Trump were to cut off U.S. aid for Ukraine, it would be a blow to the American economy. The U.S. Defense Industry has received more than $50 billion in investments due to America’s support for Ukraine. Billions of dollars have been sent to states like Arkansas, Alabama and Florida that helped Trump win the White House.
Zelensky congratulated Trump for his victory in the U.S. Presidential election and expressed hope for “strong, bipartisan support for Ukraine” in the United States.
“We have said repeatedly that the United States of America could help end the conflict of Ukraine. This cannot be achieved overnight, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated.
“They said that he would start a conflict. I am not going to start any wars, I will stop them,” said Donald Trump in a speech where he claimed victory over the 2024 presidential election.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated that “Trump has a quality which is useful to us. As a businessman at heart, he hates to spend money on freeloaders and idiotic allies. He also dislikes charity projects and greedy international organisations.”
Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Prime Minister, said on X: “I am confident President Trump’s leadership is going to promote peace globally as well as in our region and ensure restart in U.S.Georgia Relations.”
Overnight, Russia launched 63 Shaheds as well as other drones as well as two Kh-59s and Kh-31P guided rockets. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 38 drones were shot by the air defenses of Ukraine over nine regions, while 22 drones were “lost”.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed a Ukrainian war veteran to lead one of Russia’s regions. This is the highest position that has been awarded to a participant to the full-scale invasion.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched at least 4300 Shahed-type drones and other UAVs that imitated Shaheds between August and October of 2024. This is a significant increase in comparison to earlier months.
