**Ukrainians Create Giant Coat of Arms from Wheat and Oats**
A huge Ukrainian coat of arms, made from hundreds of small traditional figures, was installed in Lviv’s central avenue. The giant trident is over 7 meters high.
The unique installation was created by wounded soldiers from the 80th Separate Air Assault Galician Brigade. They worked under the guidance of a 96-year-old woman named Pelahia Zhyvko.
**A Life of Resilience**
Pelahia Zhyvko has lived through five wars, deportation, and imprisonment during Soviet rule. Despite facing intimidation and persecution, she continued to make traditional didukhs (grain sheaves) every Christmas. She even took her weaving with her when she was forced to flee, creating didukhs in Kazakhstan and Siberia.
**A Symbol of Hope**
The giant trident is a symbol of hope for Ukraine. It combines the country‘s military strength with ancient holiday traditions. The didukhs were made from wheat, rye, and oats. The wounded soldiers who created it found therapy in weaving during their recovery from front-line injuries.
