The latest Australian military aid package includes aging Abrams tanks for Ukraine

The latest announcement brings the total value of Australia’s assistance in since the beginning of the war up to $1.3 billion. Government support has now topped $1.5 billion.
Under a $245-million package, dozens of soon-to be retired Australian are being sent to Ukraine.
The move, which requires US approval, highlights the intricate webs of defense co-operation and Australia’s commitment in countering outside its immediate region.
ABC reported that Australia received its first M1A2 tank in recent weeks. The older tanks can then be transferred to Ukraine.
The ambassador of Ukraine to Australia has welcomed the announcement. A small number will need to be remedied before they are delivered. Pat Conroy will inform his counterpart about the latest support package. Conroy is attending a meeting of defense ministers in this week.
