**Georgia‘s Defense Minister Attends Ramstein Group Meeting**
On February 13, Georgian Dream’s Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani took part in the 26th meeting of the Ramstein Group in Brussels. This group is made up of defense ministers and senior officials from NATO member and partner countries.
The meeting was chaired by the UK’s Secretary of State for Defense, John Healey. The newly appointed US Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, also spoke at the gathering. Discussions focused on the ongoing war in Ukraine and the need for continued military aid to Kyiv.
Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov outlined key issues that were discussed during the meeting. These included making sure that military aid reaches Ukraine in a stable and timely manner, speeding up the delivery of critical weapons, and increasing investments in Ukraine’s defense industry through joint projects with European partners.
**New Military Aid for Ukraine**
At the meeting, the Dutch Defense Minister announced new military aid to Ukraine. This includes 25 armored tracked vehicles for transporting wounded people. The Netherlands has already committed over €10 billion to military support, with around €6 billion of this amount having been spent so far.
This meeting is not the only important event related to global security happening this week. A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council and the Munich Security Conference are also set to take place.
**Background on Ramstein Group**
The Ramstein format was established in April 2022 at the initiative of the United States. It was created to coordinate international military support for Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
