New Rules for Public Gatherings in Georgia
The Georgian government has made changes to the law on public gatherings. The new rules aim to ensure safety and security during demonstrations.
People participating in rallies will be banned from using masks or other items that cover their faces, unless they have a special permit. This permit will only be given to certain professionals, such as police officers or ambulance workers. The Minister of Internal Affairs will decide who is allowed to wear a mask.
In addition to banning face covers, the new rules also prohibit the use of pyrotechnic products, laser devices, and other items that could interfere with the work of law enforcement officials.
The Parliament has already approved these changes in their second reading. Today, they will vote on the final version of the law. Once it is published, it will come into effect immediately.
