Many Russian users reported problems with the Moscow Metro app and website on the crash detection service Downdetector.su. Some users said the site was “hacked”, while others couldn’t log in or pay for tickets.
**Cyberattack Hits Ukraine**
On March 23, a large-scale cyberattack hit Ukrainian Railways’ computer networks. The state-owned rail operator’s website and app failed, making it impossible to buy tickets online. The company blamed the attack on “the enemy”.
**Moscow Metro Issues Explained**
The Moscow transport department said there were technical issues with personal accounts in the Moscow Metro application due to maintenance. However, passengers can still top up their cards at ticket offices and terminals.
Roskomnadzor confirmed a spike in problem reports with the Moscow Metro app on March 31 but didn’t say what caused the issue. According to Downdetector.su, up to 40,000 users experienced problems over the past day.
