Parliamentary Commission to Get New Name and Expanded Mandate
A special commission in the Georgian Parliament is getting a new name. The Temporary Investigative Commission will now be called “The Parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission for the Study of the Activities of the Regime in Power from 2003 to 2012, Its Political Officials, and Current and Former Officials Affiliated with Political Parties from 2003 to the Present.”
This change comes after a proposal was made at today’s parliamentary session. The new draft resolution gives the commission a broader mandate. Instead of just investigating actions against the state that happened before 2012, it will now look into activities from 2003 up until now.
The person who presented this proposal is MP Irakli Kirkhalia. He said that people will be able to see what certain individuals were involved in after 2012.
