Georgia’s National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement Faces EQAR Decision
Lasha Margishvili, the Acting Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, spoke about their plans to appeal a decision made by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (EQAR).
The center will file an appeal within 20 days. This will be reviewed by international partners within 60 days. If the appellate committee does not agree with their arguments, they will ask EQAR to evaluate them again.
Most of the recommendations from EQAR and ENQA have been addressed. However, some issues still need to be resolved. The center is working on these problems and hopes to restore its EQAR registration soon.
It’s worth noting that the suspension of EQAR registration does not affect the recognition of qualifications or diplomas issued in Georgia. It also does not impact the quality assurance of medical education. The National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement has been a member of the World Federation for Medical Education since 2018 and obtained this membership before joining ENQA and EQAR.
