**Russia’s Missile Attack on Ukraine: A Deliberate Effort to Destroy the Country’s Infrastructure**
In a brazen display of military might, Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv overnight on April 6, destroying the newsroom of Ukrainian television channel Freedom TV. Miraculously, no employees were hurt in the strike, which also killed one person and wounded three others.
The attack targeted an office building where international broadcasting channels were located, causing significant damage to the lower floors and completely destroying the top three floors. The Freedom TV newsroom had been based in the building since a Russian attack damaged their previous office in February.
This is not an isolated incident. Russia’s missile attacks have become more frequent and intense, with President Volodymyr Zelensky calling on Western allies to do more to pressure Russia. “The number of air attacks is growing,” he said in a Telegram post.
**A Pattern of Terror**
Freedom TV’s CEO, Yuliia Bin, vowed that her team would find a solution despite the attack, but it’s clear that this is not just an attack on a newsroom – it’s a deliberate effort to destroy Ukraine’s infrastructure and terrorize its people. As Zelensky pointed out, “This is Russia’s way of showing its true intentions – to continue terror as long as the world allows it.”
**The Human Cost**
The human cost of this war cannot be overstated. Four children were injured in the attack on Kyiv, with two in extremely serious condition. The total number of casualties since the start of the war is staggering, with over 1,330 Russian forces suffering injuries.
**International Response**
As the world waits for a potential ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, international leaders are calling for action. NATO’s representatives have demanded an immediate response from Russian President Vladimir Putin to a ceasefire deal that the U.S. and Ukraine have already agreed to.
The EU is also taking steps to put pressure on Russia, with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna saying that stripping Hungary of its voting power in the EU “is getting closer and closer.”
