**Opposition Councilors Blocked from Entering Municipal Building**
On Monday, security guards stopped opposition councilors and members of the public from entering Belgrade’s Zvezdara municipality building. The group was trying to attend a session of the Municipal Assembly.
The security guards blocked the entrance to the building, causing tensions to rise. People gathered outside, blowing whistles and chanting “Mafia, Mafia”. They were protesting against the ruling coalition’s attempt to keep them out.
Councilor Jelena Bastrica from the Opposition Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) said that the private security guards had agreed to let them in, but only if the public was also allowed. However, the ruling coalition had filled all the public seats with their own supporters, making it impossible for the opposition and the public to attend.
**Police Intervene**
When police officers arrived, they told the protesters to show their ID cards. Many people left the building, continuing their protest outside. Despite the tensions, the Municipal Assembly session went ahead as planned, with ruling coalition councilors in attendance.
One protester was treated by paramedics during the incident. Former Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic was also present in the crowd, showing his support for the protesters.
