**PACE to Decide on Georgian Delegation’s Credentials**
A committee at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is proposing that the Assembly ratify the credentials of Georgia‘s delegation. However, there are conditions attached.
The PACE Monitoring Committee wants Georgia to hold new elections and release all political prisoners before the credentials can be fully accepted.
**Decision Tomorrow**
The decision on whether to ratify the Georgian delegation’s credentials will be made tomorrow, January 29.
**Challenged Credentials**
Georgia’s delegation was challenged at the opening of the winter session on January 27. The PACE Monitoring Committee has proposed a resolution that includes two options for handling the challenge.
**Conditions Attached**
The first option proposes ratifying the credentials but with conditions. This would mean the Assembly will reconsider the decision in April. The conditions include:
* Holding new elections
* Releasing all political prisoners
* Ending police brutality
* Investigating human rights abuses
If these conditions are not met, Georgia’s delegation may face consequences.
**Rights Suspended**
The PACE Monitoring Committee also proposes suspending some of the Georgian delegation’s rights as a sign of condemnation for the human rights abuses. These suspended rights include:
* Being a full member of PACE committees
* Being appointed as a rapporteur
