**PACE Calls for New Elections in Georgia**
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has passed a resolution that demands new elections in Georgia. This decision was made during a PACE session.
Out of 134 members, most (114) voted in favor of the resolution. 13 members opposed it and 7 did not vote. The assembly also decided to review Georgia’s membership until April 2025. However, they added conditions to this review due to concerns about the country’s situation.
PACE wants Georgian officials to create a fair electoral environment for new elections. They demand that all parties, including the government, opposition, and civil society groups, are involved in this process. The assembly also urges officials to:
* Take steps to restart Georgia’s path towards European integration
* Stop police brutality and human rights violations
* Release all political prisoners by April 2025
The resolution emphasizes the importance of respecting freedom of expression and assembly.
