Salome Zurabishvili has promised to attend the rally “Georgia Chooses European Union”, which is scheduled for October 20, in Tbilisi. This is exactly one week before the crucial elections for the Parliament. She urged Georgians to “not be afraid” of intimidation or threats and to join the march on October 26.
During a press conference at the Orbeliani palace, Zurabishvili expressed her happiness and hope that “all would be well”, because “the unity necessary to return to Europe” exists in this nation and because four of the main opposition political parties “are committed to Georgian Charter”, – “to a road map that will lead us back to Europe”.
Zurabishvili stated: “I’m confident that many of us will be there tomorrow [at the rally]. She added: “It’s imperative that people peacefully voice their desire for the country to preserve its European future.”
She added: “We are saying goodbye to polarization and hatred, as well as to the one-party system. There is no other path than this one – the road of development, peace and education, the path that will bring us all together.
President continued, “I know a lot of people are going to take to the streets tomorrow.” She said that she knows that many have been subjected to pressure, threats and attempts to make believe that elections will be rigged. “Don’t be scared, we are on a good path, and we will achieve our goal peacefully through peaceful elections,” President told compatriots. She stressed that “the win must be clear, without doubt.”
The peaceful “Georgia Chooses EU” march begins tomorrow at 17:00 Tbilisi Time. People will gather at five different Tbilisi locations and march to Freedom Square where a concert featuring popular Georgian bands is scheduled for 19.00.
