**Protests Continue in Tbilisi**
A protest rally is taking place on Rustaveli Avenue near the Parliament. The main street in Georgia’s capital has been blocked for another day.
This is not the first time protesters have taken to the streets. The demonstration has now gone on for 108 days straight.
The protests started after a statement by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. On November 28, 2024, he said that the Georgian government would not start talks with the European Union until the end of 2028. He also announced that the country would refuse EU budget grants during this time.
Since then, protesters have been demanding two things: new elections and the release of people who were detained while participating in the demonstrations.
