Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, and Elene Ghudushauri, Deputy Public Defender, met with Charles Schmitts, Legal Advisor of the Department of Justice of the USA embassy in Georgia and Jeff Gobel, Head of the Department of Democracy, Rights and Governance of the USA International Agency. “At the meeting, the Georgian parliamentary elections were discussed. The Public Defender presented to the guests the mandate and activities in the direction of electoral supervision of the office. He spoke about the violations that were detected during the pre-election campaigns and on the day the elections and the responses implemented according to the authority.
At the meeting they discussed the progress made in the partnership program between USAID Public Defender and agreed to its continuation.
Kerry McIntosh, the political officer at the US Embassy in Georgia and Jamie Shufflebarger the director of INL were also present.
