Ruling Party Removes Members from European Council Delegation
The ruling party in Georgia has removed some of its members from the country’s delegation to the Council of Europe. This decision was made after a meeting of the Parliamentary Bureau.
Members who are part of the opposition parties, Georgian Dream and People’s Power, have also asked to be removed from the delegation. They want this change because they feel that their voices are not being heard in the European council.
The Bureau agreed with removing some members from the delegation. Despite this change, the delegation will still exist.
Some of the people who were removed from the delegation include Tea Tsulukiani and Givi Mikanadze. Others who had a reserve quota, like Levan Machavariani and Zviad Shalamberidze, are also affected by this decision.
The ruling party’s chairman, Shalva Papuashvili, said that he hopes the European Council will return to its original values of respecting democracy and sovereignty.
