**Election of the Sixth President of Georgia**
On December 14, elections will be held to choose the sixth President of Georgia. This time, voters won’t directly elect a president. Instead, an electoral college of 300 members will do it.
**How will the electoral college work?**
The electoral college includes all members of parliament and some representatives from the Autonomous Republics of Abkhazia and Adjara. Additionally, city council members nominated by political parties will also be part of this group. This way, everyone is represented in making a decision for the country.
**Who needs to vote? And how does it work?**
To win in the first round, a candidate must get at least two-thirds (2/3) of the votes from the electoral college members. If that doesn’t happen, there will be a second round where another vote will take place.
**What happens next?**
Once the president is elected, they will be inaugurated on December 29. This person will hold the position for five years.
**Who has been nominated?**
The national party “Georgian Dream” has chosen Mikheil Kavelashvili as their candidate to become the sixth President of Georgia.
