Aleko Elisashvili is attending the hearing. He has denied any wrongdoing and does not plead guilty. Prosecutor Zviad Gubuladze told journalists that on December , 2024, Aleko Elisashvili physically and verbally assaulted Ali Babayev, of the “National Congress of ” and a founder of the “ Dream – Democratic Georgia” party. The prosecutor claims there is evidence showing Aleko Elisashvili committed violence for political reasons.

Prosecutor Gubuladze stated that watching a video recording of the incident would show that it was a one-sided attack, with Aleko Elisashvili attacking Ali Babayev from behind first verbally and then physically. However, Aleko Elisashvili’s lawyer, Zviad Kordzadze, disputes this claim.

Aleko Elisashvili has been charged under Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment of up to three years. His pre-trial detention was changed to a 4,000-lari bail following the prosecutor’s request.
