Trump’s plan to end the war is said to include a sweeping peacekeeping mission – without US soldiers.
The Telegraph, citing Trump-related sources, reports that Donald Trump, the US President elect, is considering a proposal to have European and British forces establish a buffer between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The zone would extend over 1,000 kilometers (800miles).
The buffer zone strategy was reportedly considered as Trump continued to claim that he could end Russia’s war on Ukraine in 24 hours. However, he did not provide any details.
The proposed peace plan would freeze current frontlines and require Ukraine postpone NATO aspirations for a period of 20 years. The proposal stipulates that the United States will provide weapons, but not troops or funding to enforce the buffer zone.
