**Ukraine’ First Ada-Class Corvette Advances in Trials**

**A Long Process**

Ukrainian Navy Spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk says that developing naval forces is a long process, especially when dealing with new equipment and service models. He emphasized that the crew for such a ship consists of hundreds of people who must work together like a team.

Pletenchuk noted that the Navy is currently undergoing reorganization and preparing crews for vessels like the Hetman Ivan Mazepa. This includes training sailors to speak English, as this is required to continue their training abroad.

**International Cooperation**

The Ukrainian spokesperson highlighted the importance of international cooperation in modernizing its naval forces. He mentioned key partners such as the UK and Norway, which have provided ships and other assistance to Ukraine.

Pletenchuk also talked about a division of mine countermeasure vessels forming within the Navy, with at least five ships expected to be part of this division. This is significant given the threats posed by mines in the Black Sea.

**The Hetman Ivan Mazepa**

The Hetman Ivan Mazepa was laid down in September 2021 and launched on October 2, , in Istanbul, Türkiye. It began trials in May this year. The corvette is equipped with advanced systems, including a 76mm Super Rapid naval gun and a VL MICA missile system.
