**UNDP Supports Georgia‘s Development**
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is supporting Georgia in its efforts to develop sustainably and become more climate-resilient.
**Key Areas of Support**
During a recent visit, UN Assistant Secretary-General Mirjana Špoljarić Egger met with Georgian leaders and people. She said the UNDP will help Georgia in key areas such as:
* Strengthening parliamentary democracy
* Achieving gender equality
* Building a climate-resilient society
**Meeting with Leaders**
Špoljarić Egger met with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, President Salome Zurabishvili, and other officials. She also spoke with Members of Parliament, ministers, and representatives from civil society.
**Visiting Flagship Initiatives**
The UNDP Regional Director visited several initiatives in Georgia, including programs to:
* Support parliamentary democracy
* Promote gender equality among women entrepreneurs
* Build a climate-resilient society
**Launches New Initiative**
Špoljarić Egger launched a new initiative to help Georgia sustainably manage its forests and promote green livelihoods. This is part of the UNDP’s Climate Promise initiative.
**UNDP Supports Climate Agenda**
The UNDP supports Georgia’s ambitious climate agenda, which aims to protect nature, create sustainable livelihoods, and reduce climate-related risks.
**Visit to Kakheti Region**
Špoljarić Egger visited the Kakheti region, where the UNDP is helping protect people and the economy from floods and other climate-induced disasters.
