Russian Drone Found in Moldova
A third Russian drone was discovered in Moldova. The unmanned aircraft was found on the outskirts of Cosernita, which is 26 kilometers from Chisinau, the capital.
This discovery comes after two other drones were found earlier this week. One was near Borosenii Noi village and another by Farladani village. These finds followed a large drone attack by Russia on Ukraine involving 145 drones.
The police reported that no explosives were found on these Russian drones. However, Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi said that airspace violations are serious threats to civilian safety.
Moldova’s government is upset about the drone incidents and allegations of election interference. They summoned the Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov for a formal protest.
This is not the first time Russian military debris has been found in neighboring countries since the invasion began. Over 30 similar incidents have been reported across several countries, including Romania, Poland, Moldova, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Belarus.
These countries are trying to avoid intercepting these drones, as they might lead to an escalation. There was a big explosion at a Russian oil refinery that is over 2,000 km from the Ukrainian border. It’s not clear if Ukraine was involved in the attack.
Recently, there have been increased drone attacks by Ukraine on Russian oil infrastructure. A major Russian defense contractor’s facility came under attack from Ukrainian drones, and an emergency response had to be sent to the site.
