Kakha Kaladze announced this week at the government session in Tbilisi that City Hall will provide two million GEL to the club culture sector due to the damage done by the pandemic. Kaladze stated that all those working in this sector will receive assistance. He also highlighted that the electronic and club sector had been severely affected by the pandemic, and many of its workers were left without a job. Kaladze also emphasized that the club sector has made the capital city of Georgia famous throughout Europe and attracted many tourists.
“On one hand, we must alleviate the socioeconomic situation of those who work in this field, their families and the electronic music industry, and maintain its viability. On the other, with the support of the state, we must maintain their motivation and potential to continue their activities after the pandemic. “They will receive maximum support from us,” said he. “Within the Night Economy project I was in contact with people in the sector. Many meetings were held and Andria basilaia conducted negotiations. “We have decided to offer an aid package in the amount of 2,000,000 GEL to them, and at least 50 people who are employed in this sector will benefit from the package,” said the Tbilisi mayor.
The Minibus Fleet of Tbilisi will be Renovated Completely
The Mayor of Tbilisi announced on Wednesday that the fleet of minibuses in Tbilisi will be completely renovated by the end this year.
“According to transportation policy, only 1,00 new minibuses are going to operate in the capital. The rest of the routes, however, will be served by 8 meter buses. Negotiations with “Tbilisi Minibus” are nearly over. The company will attract the capital by repurchasing the 300 minibuses that we purchased. It will also buy 400 additional minibuses. All of this will be completed before the end the year. Tbilisi City Hall is expected to announce the results of the market research in the next few days and begin the bidding process. Transportation policy is made up of several components. The most important thing to do is to upgrade and replace the entire fleet of buses. This process has already started. We have purchased buses and are waiting for their delivery. We would also like to introduce about 180 units of 8 meter and 200 units 18 meter buses.”
27 Families living at different addresses will receive housing
27 families who have lived at different addresses for years and worried about legalizing their housing will receive housing at a price of 1 GEL.
This week, the Mayor of Tbilisi reiterated that illegal constructions and the seizure state lands are categorically inacceptable. He said that 6-7 million GEL are spent on a program to help and rent property to families who don’t have a home and are socially disadvantageous.
Student Support Program Expanded
Kaladze announced the expansion of the student support program. Funding will be provided for more vulnerable students who are registered in Tbilisi and have 150,000 points or less in the unified database. Before the changes were implemented, the program provided funding to students whose families scored 70,000 points or less on the unified database for the socially vulnerable. Applications for the spring semester funding began on March 1. They will continue until May 31. The program will fund tuition for more than 2,00 students.
