The drone attack on Sumy by Russia killed Anna Kushnariova (14), her mother (50 years old) and her aunt (62 years old).
Russian forces launched a large-scale drone strike against Ukraine over night on 22 October. This attack resulted in civilian casualties at Sumy, and triggered air defense responses in multiple regions.
Russia continues to launch deliberate daily air strikes on residential areas, in an attempt to terrorize civilians. Every night, the Russian forces launch dozens – usually Iranian designed – Shahed 131 and 136 long-range “kamikaze drones. They also often launch several missiles.
Three family members were killed in Sumy by Russia
According to Suspilne (Ukraine’s public broadcaster), a Russian drone strike on a residential neighborhood in Sumy resulted in the death of three civilians. Anna Kushnariova was 14 years old, her mother, 50, and her aunt, 62, were also victims.
The regional prosecutor’s office reports that 50-year-old boy’s father survived the attack, as he was present in the yard. However, he was injured.
The girl’s girls school, Sumy School No. 27 posted a tribute that said,
“A Shahed hit the house directly.” She was a cheerful, kind, friendly girl who was sensitive and friendly. She was also a diligent student.
