Opposition Party Won’t Participate in Elections
Tina Bokuchava, the leader of Georgia’s “National Movement,” says it’s pointless to participate in elections until the system changes. She made this statement to journalists.
Bokuchava believes that when the outcome is always controlled by one person or group, elections are meaningless. Even in Russia, she said, the person who holds power always wins.
She thinks that for a country to have normal politics, the system must be fair and competitive. In her opinion, this means having independent institutions and no state terror.
The opposition party is united on this issue, according to Bokuchava. She hopes that other opposition groups will agree with them.
