False Investigations Abound in Georgia
Tina Bokuchava, the leader of the “United National Movement,” has spoken out against a new investigation by the General Prosecutor’s Office. The office claims that she and others provided assistance to foreign organizations involved in hostile activities.
Bokuchava says this is just another false investigation. She notes that there have been many similar cases over the years, with people being accused of things like trying to stage a state coup or other serious crimes.
She says it’s not surprising that these accusations are being made now, as the country has been taken over by powerful interests. “The ridiculous thing is not that Ivanishvili has destroyed the country and its institutions,” Bokuchava said. “It’s just that everything serves his own power.”
Bokuchava refuses to cooperate with the investigation. She says it’s a pointless exercise, as there is no justice in this system.
According to official reports, the investigation was opened based on a statement made by representatives of “United Neutral Georgia.” They claim that Bokuchava and others helped foreign organizations engage in hostile activities against the country.
